OUT NOW! What News, Centurions?

New Binary Press is proud to announce Colm Scully’s debut collection of poetry, What News, Centurions?

What News, Centurions? leads us on a fanciful odyssey from the early Christian world of Skellig Michael to a post-apocalyptic voice from some planet on another star. It meanders, through adventures on board the first ship to circumnavigate the earth to ghostly meetings during everyday occurrences, like watering the back garden in early summer. These are all conduits for the same query – finding our place in the world.

Colm Scully is from Cork where he lives with his wife and three children. His twenty years working in industry as a chemical engineer combine with his interest in history, philosophy and science to provide the back drop to many of his poems. In 2014, Colm received the Cúirt New Writing Poetry Prize, and was selected for the Poetry Ireland Introductory Series, while he was also commended in the Gregory O’Donoghue Prize.
